StrangeCloud

View Profile

An acoustic-based, psychedelic pop duo, StrangeCloud was formed in 1998 by musicians with considerable experience in other bands. The partnership of Fred Wheeler and Jeff Anderson has performed relentlessly since the fall of 1999 both as an acoustic duo, and at times bringing in other musicians to spice up live performances. In recognition of their vocal harmonies, StrangeCloud was invited as one of the special artists to perform at Bob Dylan's 60th Birthday Party Celebration in Minneapolis in May, 2001. StrangeCloud released 2 highly successful indie CDs in 1999 ("Formation" and "Acousticity"). While those earlier projects focused on the acoustic, alt country sound, the newer material on "Psychedelectric Orange" is more pop and rock oriented. Think Beatles, Pink Floyd, Traveling Wilburys, Beach Boys, Bee Gees, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, America, Wilco, and Simon & Garfunkel all brought together in a 21st century mode, shaken and not stirred. These upbeat songs have a heavy emphasis on pop melody ala Lennon/McCartney, feature layered 3 and 4-part harmony, and an abundance of sonic pleasure. Included on "Psychedelectric Orange" are special licensed versions of the Beatles classic "Things We Said Today," and Pink Floyd's early opus "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun.
